Our Promise to You
✨ Your calculations never leave your browser. ✨
Every calculator on Calcumina runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you enter numbers into a mortgage calculator, a BMI calculator, or any other tool on this site, those numbers are processed locally on your device. They are not sent to our servers, not stored in databases, and not shared with anyone.
This is our fundamental commitment to your privacy. You can use every calculator on this site without worrying about who might be collecting your financial information, health data, or personal details.
What Data We Collect
We collect very little data. Here's exactly what we do and don't collect:
✅ What We Collect
- Anonymous usage statistics — We use Google Analytics to understand which calculators are most popular, how long people stay on pages, and where our visitors come from. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Email addresses (only if you choose to share) — If you sign up for our email newsletter or download a guide, we collect your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we never share your email with third parties.
- Basic server logs — Like almost every website, our servers log IP addresses and browser information. These logs help us monitor for security issues and technical problems. They are retained for a short period and automatically deleted.
❌ What We Don't Collect
- Your calculation inputs — Home prices, down payments, interest rates, BMI numbers, calorie counts, tax details — none of it leaves your browser.
- Your name or identity — Unless you voluntarily provide it (like when emailing us), we don't collect your name.
- Financial account information — We never ask for bank accounts, credit card numbers, or social security numbers.
- Your browsing history across other sites — We don't use cross-site tracking or build profiles about you.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies very sparingly. Here's what you need to know:
- Essential cookies — A few cookies are necessary for the site to function properly (like remembering your preferences). These are minimal and don't track you.
- Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. Google Analytics uses its own cookies to collect anonymous usage data. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Ad networks (future) — If we add display advertising in the future, those networks may use cookies to show relevant ads. You'll always have the option to opt out, and we'll update this policy accordingly.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block third-party cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when cookies are placed. Please note that blocking essential cookies may affect how the site functions.
Email Capture and Newsletters
If you choose to subscribe to our email list or download a free guide, we collect your email address through a trusted third-party service (currently Formspree, transitioning to ConvertKit or similar). Here's what happens:
- Your email is stored securely with our email service provider
- We use your email only to send you the content you requested and occasional updates about Calcumina
- We never sell or rent your email address to anyone
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link — one click and you're out
- You can request to have your email deleted at any time by contacting us
Third-Party Links and Services
Our calculators may include affiliate links to trusted partners (like mortgage lenders, tax software, or health programs). These are clearly marked with "Sponsored" or similar labels. When you click these links:
- You leave Calcumina and visit a third-party website
- Those websites have their own privacy policies — we recommend reviewing them
- We may earn a commission if you make a purchase or sign up through these links, at no additional cost to you
- These links help keep Calcumina free for everyone
We only partner with reputable companies and services. However, we cannot control the privacy practices of third-party websites.
Children's Privacy
Calcumina is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete it promptly.
Data Security
We take security seriously. Here's how we protect your information:
- HTTPS encryption — Every page on Calcumina is served over HTTPS, meaning your connection to our site is encrypted and secure.
- Minimal data storage — By design, we collect as little data as possible. There's simply less to protect.
- Secure email handling — Any email addresses we collect are stored with reputable, security-focused providers.
No system is 100% secure, but we follow industry best practices to keep your information safe.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including in the European Economic Area under GDPR, California under CCPA, and similar laws), you may have rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to know — You can ask us what personal data we have about you
- Right to deletion — You can ask us to delete your personal data
- Right to opt out — You can opt out of marketing communications at any time
- Right to data portability — You can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@calcumina.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we'll revise the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through a notice on our homepage or by email (if you've subscribed).
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we're protecting your information.
